August 2011 * * * Christoph Müller, the intendant of Menuhin Festival Gstaad, has once again prepared an incredible programme for the festival in the summer of 2012. The 56th edition of the event founded by Lord Yehudi Menuhin will take place from 20 July to 8 September in 2012. Star German violinist Julia Fischer will be the artist in residence. Among the other stars on the programme: pianists András Schiff and Emanuel Ax, singers Cecilia Bartoli and Anne Sofie von Otter, The Kingʼs Singers, violinists Giuliano Carmignola and Nigel Kennedy, cellist Truls Mørk, recorder virtuoso Maurice Steger, the Trio Khatia Buniatishvili – Patricia Kopatchinskaja – Sol Gabetta, and conductors David Zinman and Michael Tilson Thomas. And of course the orchestras: at the vanguard is the house ensemble for the third consecutive year, the Gstaad Festival Orchestra, along with the Camerata Salzburg and the return of the London Symphony Orchestra. The theme of next yearʼs festival as well as the complete programme will be published next December, as every year.
