Chamber Music

Friday, 7 August 2020
7.30 pm, Saanen Church

This is the culmination of four days of masterclasses led by pianist Sir András Schiff and baritone Robert Holl: a special Gstaad Piano Academy in this Viennese year, offering students the opportunity to further develop the most important part of Franz Schubert's work, his Lieder, as well as his magnificent multi-part choral music. This final evening has been conceived in the purest spirit of the so-called “Schubertiade” – i.e., a gathering of friends during which master and student roles are forgotten, hosted in large private Viennese salons such as that of Franz von Schober, friend but also poet and author of some of the most beautiful Lieder texts set to music by Schubert.
