Chamber Music

Tuesday, 18 July 2017
7.30 pm, Rougemont Church

Inspired by Mozart’s brilliant light, the clarinet enjoyed a golden age during the 19th century, reaching its peak with Brahms, who confided it with his last intimate thoughts. Brahms was astounded by the manner with which Richard Mühlfeld made the instrument sing… as he certainly also would say with regard to Andreas Ottensamer, the new prince of the clarinet. Ottensamer performed for the first time at the festival last year with the famed family ensemble (the unforgettable concert together with his brother Andreas, his father Ernest and the Gstaad Festival Chamber Orchestra!). This year he is joined by two outstanding chamber musicians: cellist Nicolas Altstaedt and pianist Dejan Lazić (who will also be performing the following day).
